FAST FIVE.

So, last  night, I went to go see Fast Five with my mom as a Mother's Day prerequisite. It was actually REALLY good. I think it's because it was less car-oriented, and more crime oriented. It was super bad-ass though, whatever the case. I kept getting so tripped up when I was watching it because my sister's all: "OH MY GOOOD! DWAYNE JOHNSON'S SO BUFF". And I'm just sitting there like "Who the fuck is Dwayne Johnson? His name's The Rock." The generation gap's getting thinner and thinner. Him and Vin Diesel looked like twins in the movie. It was shot almost like Takers, and it had that same feel, but with less soul, more rock 'n roll. Anyone who liked Takers would LOVE it. Tyrese was super sexy in it btw. Luda also came in as a tech-savvy ex-con and then that Asian guy from the other ones as well as Jordana Brewster. Paul Walker was eeeextra salty. Gal Gadot was hot too. Even the chick who was Merisol in the Cheetah Girls was in the hizzouse. Any way, here's some screen shots.

GOBLIN X TYLER THE CREATOR

I don't know if you guys remember, but a long while ago, I blogged about Tyler the Creator. (I blogged about Earl Sweatshirt too, but he's really irrelevant to this post). Anyway, Goblin was leaked recently, so you know I've got to blog it! I know it's wrong, as a fan, to dl it illegally, but.. I fully intend on buying it. I've heard it's being released as vinyl as well. That'd definitely be something I'd be interested in. Personally, I loved Goblin. A lot of people said things like: "he's trying too hard", "the beats all sound the same", "wahwahwah". I thought it was awesome.

My personal faves would have to be "Goblin", "She", and "Nightmare".

Here's the tracklist:

1. GOBLIN
2. YONKERS
3. RADICALS
4. SHE
5. TRANSYLVANIA
6. NIGHTMARE
7. TRON CAT
8. HER
9. SANDWITCHES
10. FISH
11. ANALOG
12. B.S.D.
13. WINDOW
14. AU79
15. GOLDEN

The ones in italics have features. The ones in blue are my favorites.

Anyway, I highly recommend purchasing this. It's definitely a piece of art. He did his thugdizzle. I love the notoriety they're getting. They work hard and produce quality music. I dig it.

TO ALL WHO CLAIM TYLER'S RECKLESS/CRAZY/SUCKS: Artists are tormented by their art. Watch this, skip to :43

CURRENTLY ADDICTED X MUSIC

Frank Ocean x Tyler the Creator = She

Off Tyler's new album. It's super dope. LOVE the track. F/O did his thing too.

Kendrick Lamar x Jhene Aiko = Growing Apart
We all seem to stumble, planning our own demise,
Forgetting the big picture and making it wallet sized.
So to what's important in my life, I apologize:
I promise to stay faithful, focused and sanctified.
We all get distracted, the question is:
Will you bounce back, or bounce backwards?
Would you not know how to act or take action?
That's apart of life and if your vision's impaired,
You'll probably lose it all tonight.
The epitome of power through words.

SMOOTH (of Space Invaders) — FEEL GOOD

MTOWN X SKYE TOWNSEND

You've probably heard of Skye Townsend. She's gorgeous, and her voice is very Macy Grey-esque. Anyway, this is the remix my friend made of her original song "Super Planet Janet". I love it and can't stop listening to it! I hope you like.

Rihanna for Rolling Stone

I'm so happy for Rihanna. The red-head superstar has worked so diligently and we've all watched her come into her own. She's finally got a Rolling Stone cover. While at the shoot, she also does a brief interview, answering some fan questions. She only answers one thoroughly, but I had to post it because her accent's adorable!

The Indie Life Concert Series, April 24th

On April 24th, go check out Big K.R.I.T. and the the good fellas at Flight School Music in DC! They're known for a dope show.
I'd definitely be there if I didn't have to go to school *insert ghetto girl eye roll here* $20 dollar tickets are a steal, btw.

Shoutout to SMCity for putting on the show!

For tickets, visit The Indie Life @ Eventbrite.

Talent Unwrapped NO*1

Young, fresh, and talented, one of North Carolina's greatest unsigned hypes— JK the Rapper took time to interview with Teenage Billionaire. It was magic. His music speaks to the young and giveafuckless. His sound is a rough blend of Jay-Z and (mixtape) Kid Cudi. His flow, his emotion and his passion for music are all factors in his plot to success. Through his music, you meet him. His loyal listeners know everything from his favorite color to his latest girlfriend. He has loyal fans throughout the piedmont triad, and his fanbase is constantly spreading. With his new ensemble of young talent (FANG), JK will be virtually unstoppable in the industry. He runs in the same social circles as other current hypes like VWilckers as well as SBM.

As you may, or may not be able to tell, I'm a loyal listener. I've been tuning in for about two years now. I listen to his music, because it reiks of emotion and tortured youth. I love the variety in his music as well. His beats make you want to do anything from sit in a dark room while reflecting on life, to jumping on your bed and screaming his lyrics. Below is a list of my top ten favorite songs! I like them all for different reasons. But, they're awesome, check them out.

We also did a quick photoshoot. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Isn't he so awkwardly adorable? Anyway, without further or due, here's the interview piece. Shot, directed, and edited by me. Don't judge my skills or the quality. I need a few software upgrades.

Overly Dedicated: Kendrick Lamar

Hey, it's been a while! Sorry :/ I'm a high school senior, with barely enough time to sleep— let alone blog! But I will try my best to get to you guys. Anyway, a couple days ago, I did some press work at the first Kendrick Lamar show EVER in North Carolina.. It was hosted by the good fellas at FSM, and I'd have to say that I am overly impressed! His stage presence, his lexicon, his soul. It truly made attending his show an experience. I loved it! He's so west coast, it's a shame. He was so down-to-earth though. However, that's neither here, nor there. I've got some pictures for you!

This picture can only be appreciated by photographers. I wrote my name on the bathroom mirror with lipstick (super clichéd), Nicki Minaj: Pink Friday, to be exact. The <3* is in focus, and I'm not. I love this.

Pretty self-explanitory— Teff the Don x Jia Jetson.

This is "The Mecca of Rhymes". @mecca336gnc

KevGneiss and GermSykes, SOUTH. Not established yet, but definitely on their way.

Cool shot of Mr Lamar. Definitely over-sharpened! (Everybody makes mistakes) I love the way the light barely touches his head/shoulder.

Another shot of Teff.

Flight School Music, turned it up and ooout.

I like the way I edited this one. At this part in the show, he was telling this funny story about how when he was like 6, his dad would come home drunk and warn him about all the hoes who wanted him to get him pregnant and all the guys that wanted to fuck him over.

I just kind of needed a blah picture.

Teff x KL x unfocused lights.

Check out my homie in the background.

Hornets authentic vintage.

Rich P x Kev

I love the way the bar at Greene St looks.

Rich P was dope on stage too.

His style was cute, his flow was dope, stage presence was alladat.

I like this edit too.

Tell me dude doesn't look like a butterfly.

...And that's all for now. I'll probably post more later, but this is all you get for now :) As always, you can check out these (and more) at my Flickr. I hope you can see how dope that night was through the pictures. Btw, make sure to check out Kendrick Lamar (@Kendrick_Lamar), The Mecca of Rhymes of Flight School Music (@mecca336gnc), and Rich P (@RichP213). Make sure to go grab Kendrick's latest tape: Overly Dedicated. I'm thinking of posting a review of it myself, soon.

Byeee.

Green & Yellow! Get it IN. Super Bowl XLV.

Like the other 99.0000000009% of the country, last night, surprisingly enough, I watch the super bowl. I also tweeted about it non-stop, because each & EVERY time you tweet with the hashtag "#superbowl", they add a football behind it. It was pretty awesome. Anyway, I enjoyed it pretty well. I like football, so it was smooth sailing. I guess I'll just blog on it start to finish. The start was, like any other super bowl's start, the anthem is sang. Christina Aguilera turned it OUT. She's such a talented vocalist. She looked gorgeous, too. That fitted black dress contrasts so vividly with her bleached-blonde hair, she looked stunning. Then, she gets shit from everybody for fucking up the lyrics. Like, she messed up an entire line. I'm thinking, you're American. Why don't you know the national anthem, accurately? But after all the press massacred her, she goes on to apoligize by saying, "I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and the true spirit of its anthem came through." (Source: NY Post) It's cool though, we forgive you Christina.

After the anthem, the game starts. During the first quarter of the game, I was wondering if the Steelers' flight was delayed or some shit, 'cause they weren't there. So, while they're on their way to the game, the Packers get off with this sweet ass touch-down catch! Then, Nick Collins does his THUG DIZZLE. Receives the ball from Big Ben, and protects the ball like it's baby Jesus. That put the Packers up 14-0.

The Steelers finally arrive at the game and get a 1st down in the 2nd quarter. They also take out the Packers #1 receiver and leave them shaking in their cleats, jk. They were kind of upset though. SO mad in fact, that they scored AGAIN.. I stopped watching for a while.. then it was halftime! The Black Eyed Peas performed with a special guest: SLASH! & Usher (usha, usha). It was amazing.

$lash's in the building. Fly as ever.

Usher shows up.. he casted down like a spider.

He also jumped over Will.i.am

I didn't tune back in until the 4th quarter. There was this commercial, I'm sure you saw it. Kim Kardashian is the new shape-ups girl. HA! Yes, it's true. It's HOT too. I almost wanted to buy a pair, but then, I realized that they were disgusting. Scariest 4 seconds of my life. But, here goes:

SEX SELLS.

Other than that, I mean, the game was pretty cool. The Steelers came back, 23-28. I mean, the Packers were still winning, but it was a close game. Then, the Packers won. 31-25. Good game, guys.

Here's a celebratory song:
