School Daze, Vol. 2

Hey guys! It's sort of been a minute. Haha. I've been soooo busy with school!
However, I've got tons to update you on. Firstly, I have a new camera. I snagged a 7D for a cool $1300. The guys sold me shitty lenses, but... I'm gonna sell them, and buy better ones. No biggie. Anyway, I had a pretty mellow day yesterday, and took tons of pictures. Check em out.

I think the colors are amazing. Another awesome thing about the Canons is the image quality. They have a way of being sharp without looking digital. There's a filmy aspect in there, some how. Anyway, after class, me and Najm went off campus and I took picture of him, and he took some of me.

Everyone says he reminds them of Tyler, the Creator.

Oh yeah, I have an afro.

And that's it. I shot all these with a 18-135mm Canon f3.5 lens. The outside shots are cool, but the inside shots sucked, so I'm selling it. There's not enough depth and my 50mm is waaaay better. Contact me at najiyyahphipps@aol.com if you're interested.

School Daze x Jia Everyday

So, I hadn't posted in a few days. I haven't had time to upload pictures of my outfits, so today, I thought I'd upload pictures I took while I was walking around school with my friend.

Just so there's NO confusion, my friend, Najm, took this. He makes a big deal about it, so here ya go.

I took all of these with my 55-200mm VR lens, sooo... yeah.

FASHION TURBANS!

I think we've all seen the new style. Fashion turbans. They can be from anything really simple to something ridiculously complex. I've only gotten down the super simple ones. I don't know what any of them are called, nor do I even "have them down". My friend went natural the other day, and the whole time, all we talked about were turbans. So, I'm kind of obsessing. I love some of the looks. I doubt you'll see me in any until the fall, on the sole basis of the fact that it averages 89˚ in the NC summer. I'm bald, so I have to wear them covering my whole head. I think you could imagine where I may find a problem, even though, I might just stick it out some days. I think they're so cute. Anyway, I tried watching tutorials to learn how to do it, but then I got bored. So, this is me winging it. They're actually not difficult to do. The scarf used was a 6' x 1.5', I believe. I bought it off the street for $1 in NY, last Thanksgiving. I have other sized scarves, but thus far, it's been the easiest to work with.

Without further or due, I present to you— my turban-tying skillz. (I put a "z" instead of an s, than means I'm NICE WITH IT.) Again, I don't know any of the names of these, if they even have names. I didn't watch tutorials so they might be made up. I'll just call them Type 1-3.

It was the most basic one. Just 2 wraps and some twisting.

I little more twisting. Same amount of wrappage.

And last but not least, TURBAN TYPE #3

This one was a little more difficult. It was more tucking than wrapping.

JADE GOES NATURAL!

So, I'm natural. My mom's natural. My best friend's sister is natural, but my best friend was NOT natural! She wanted to be though. So, we made it happen. Her, her sister, and I went to this beauty salon on Eastchester Dr and she did a big chop! It was great. There were fireworks and hair everywhere. Just kidding. No fireworks. But, it was still fun! I took pictures and we all laughed. Jessica was SO excited/proud/overwhelmed. It was hilarious.

Her mommy loved it! In the end, she really loved it. You know, once you get nat, you never go back! :) Bye.
